1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how QuickImageToText ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our optical character recognition (OCR) service ("Service").

Our Core Privacy Principle: We believe in privacy by design. Our Service processes all images locally in your browser using WebAssembly technology. Your data never reaches our servers, which means we physically cannot access, store, or share your images or extracted text.

This policy was last updated on December 2024 and applies to all users of QuickImageToText.

2. Information We Collect

Unlike traditional online services, QuickImageToText collects minimal information:

  • Images You Upload: Processed entirely in your browser. Never sent to our servers.
  • Extracted Text: Generated locally on your device. We never see or store this data.
  • Anonymous Analytics: We use Google Analytics to collect non-personal usage statistics (page views, session duration, browser type, country-level location). This helps us improve the Service.
  • Technical Information: Your browser automatically sends standard HTTP headers (IP address, browser type, operating system) when you visit our website. This is standard for all websites and necessary for the Service to function.
  • Cookies: We use minimal cookies solely for Google Analytics. No personal information is stored in cookies.

We do NOT collect: names, email addresses, phone numbers, payment information, or any personally identifiable information (PII).

3. How We Use Information

The minimal information we collect is used exclusively for:

  • Service Improvement: Understanding how users interact with our Service to make improvements
  • Performance Monitoring: Identifying technical issues and optimizing speed
  • Usage Statistics: Generating aggregate reports on Service usage (e.g., "X users processed images this month")
  • Security: Detecting and preventing abuse or malicious use of the Service

We never use your data for advertising, marketing, or selling to third parties.

4. Client-Side Processing Explained

What is Client-Side Processing? When you upload an image to QuickImageToText, the OCR processing happens entirely within your web browser using advanced JavaScript and WebAssembly technology. The image never leaves your device.

Technical Proof: You can verify this yourself:

  • Load QuickImageToText with an active internet connection
  • Disconnect your internet (turn on airplane mode)
  • Upload an image and extract text
  • The Service continues working perfectly - because nothing uploads to any server

This architecture ensures that even if we wanted to access your data, we technically cannot. It's the ultimate privacy guarantee.

5. Data Storage and Retention

Simple Answer: We store nothing.

Here's what happens to your data:

  • Images: Processed in browser memory (RAM). Automatically deleted when you close the tab or refresh the page. Never stored on disk.
  • Extracted Text: Displayed in your browser. Deleted when you navigate away. Never transmitted to us.
  • Download Files: Generated locally on your device. We never see what you download.
  • Session Data: No server-side sessions. No accounts. Nothing to store.

Result: Zero data retention period because we never have your data in the first place.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use minimal cookies solely for analytics:

  • Google Analytics Cookies: Used to track anonymous usage statistics (_ga, _gid cookies). These expire after 2 years of inactivity.
  • Purpose: Understanding how many users visit, which features are popular, and how to improve the Service.
  • Personal Data: Google Analytics is configured to anonymize IP addresses. No personally identifiable information is collected.

You can block these cookies using browser settings or privacy extensions without affecting the core OCR functionality.

7. Third-Party Services

QuickImageToText uses the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics: For anonymous usage statistics. Google Privacy Policy
  • CDN Services: We load external libraries (TailwindCSS, Font Awesome) from content delivery networks for faster performance. These services may log basic request information.
  • Google Fonts: Typography served from Google Fonts CDN. Google Privacy Policy

These services do NOT have access to your images or extracted text because all processing happens client-side.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Under data protection laws (including GDPR), you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: Request confirmation of what data we hold (which is none for images/text)
  • Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your data (already automatic since we don't store anything)
  • Right to Object: Object to processing (you can stop using the Service anytime)
  • Right to Data Portability: Export your data (you already have it - we never took it)
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Stop using analytics cookies (use browser settings or privacy extensions)

Because we don't collect personal data or store images, most traditional data rights don't apply in the usual sense. Your privacy is protected by design.

9. Data Security

We implement security best practices:

  • HTTPS Encryption: All connections to QuickImageToText use SSL/TLS encryption
  • Client-Side Processing: The ultimate security - your data never leaves your device
  • No Storage Vulnerabilities: Can't leak data we don't have
  • Regular Updates: We keep our software dependencies updated to patch security vulnerabilities
  • Content Security Policy: Browser security headers to prevent XSS attacks

While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure. However, since your images never reach our servers, the most common data breach risk (server compromise) doesn't apply.

10. Children's Privacy

QuickImageToText does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

Because our Service requires no registration and processes everything client-side, we have no way of knowing the age of our users. Parents and guardians should supervise internet use by children.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately, though our architecture makes this extremely unlikely.

11. International Users and Data Transfers

QuickImageToText is accessible globally. Since all image processing happens on your device, no cross-border data transfers occur for your images or extracted text.

The minimal analytics data we collect (via Google Analytics) may be processed in the United States or other countries where Google operates servers. Google Analytics complies with applicable data protection laws.

GDPR Compliance: We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by design. Our client-side processing model inherently satisfies GDPR's data minimization and privacy-by-design principles.

CCPA Compliance: California residents have specific privacy rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Since we don't sell personal information or create user profiles, most CCPA obligations don't apply.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.

Material changes will be communicated by:

  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Posting a notice on our homepage for significant changes
  • Continuing to use the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy.
