How to Read Phone Numbers and Emails From an Image
To read a phone number or email address from an image, run the image through an OCR tool, copy the extracted text, and paste the number or address where you need it. Free Image to Text does this in your browser in a few seconds, so the picture never leaves your device.
Why copy contact details instead of retyping them?
A single wrong digit sends a call to a stranger, and a mistyped letter bounces an email. Copying the characters the OCR engine reads is faster than typing and removes most of those slips, especially for long international numbers or addresses with dots and underscores.
How do you read phone numbers from an image?
- Capture the detailsTake a sharp photo of the business card, flyer, poster or sign, or take a screenshot of the chat or web page.
- Open the toolGo to Image to Text and drop, paste or browse for the image.
- Pick the languageChoose the language the surrounding text is written in, so names and labels are read correctly too.
- Extract and copyPress the extract button, select the number or address in the result, and copy it.
How do you copy an email address from a picture?
Email addresses are read exactly like any other text. After extraction, look for the line with the @ sign, copy it, and paste it into your mail app. If the address was split across two lines in the image, join the pieces and remove any space the engine added around the dot or the @.
Can I call a number straight from a photo?
On many phones, yes. iPhone Live Text and Google Lens on Android can recognize a number inside a photo and offer a call button. When you are on a computer, or you want to save many contacts at once, extracting the text first gives you a clean list you can paste into a spreadsheet or contact form.
What about a stack of business cards?
Photograph each card and use Multi Image OCR to read up to 20 images in one run, then download all the text together. Our guide to extracting text from multiple images walks through the whole workflow.
