Convert different image formats to text with our specialized OCR tools
A .heics file is a HEIF image sequence: several frames stored one after another in a single file, compressed with HEVC. The S stands for sequence. A normal .heic holds one photo, a .heics holds many. Some apps use it for animations and short image sequences, and you will see it far less often than .heic.
This page converts the file in your browser and reads the first frame only. If the text you need is in that frame, you get it in one step. If it appears later, open the file in a player or photo app, pause on the frame with the text, take a screenshot and add it on screenshot to text. To read many frames, save each one as an image and add up to 20 at once on batch OCR.
For ordinary single iPhone photos (.heic), use the main iPhone photo to text page, which has the photo tips.
HEICS OCR technology scans text in HEICS images and converts it into editable digital format. Upload your image, let the OCR engine process it, and instantly copy or download your text.

No. Both use HEVC compression inside a HEIF container, but HEIC holds one image and HEICS holds a sequence of them. For single photos, use HEIC to text.
The first one. For text in a later frame, pause on that frame in a player, take a screenshot and add the screenshot instead.
Yes. A .heifs file is the same kind of sequence with the generic HEIF ending, and it is handled the same way: the first image is converted and read.
